Whether for business or pleasure travel, more and more adults are learning second languages. The Lancaster Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) offers numerous options.

French 2 will be offered at the campus Sundays, March 7-May 2, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. This course is a continuation of French 1. Students will build on known vocabulary and grammar with more emphasis on speaking with correct information.

Instruction continues to stress speaking, listening, comprehension, reading and writing skills. In addition, students will get an opportunity to experience practical applications of the language such as going to a French restaurant, listening to music, etc.

Spanish 2 will be offered Tuesdays, March 9-April 27, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This class will sharpen students' basic Spanish skills learned in Spanish 1. Topics include grammar, verbs, more complex requests and questions, conversational practice and activities.

Italian will be offered Wednesdays, March 10-April 28, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Through class activities and interaction, beginner students will be introduced to basic useful vocabulary/phrases, survival statements, simple questions and some language structure fundamentals. Classes also will be integrated with tips for travelers and up-to-date information about Italy.

Chinese 2 will be offered Mondays, March 15-May 3, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This course will build on what the students have learned from the Chinese Basic Conversation class. Students will sharpen their conversational skills and also learn appropriate Chinese expressions, parts of speech, and new words to increase their vocabulary.

The class will focus on opportunities to carry on a more complex conversation while at the same time learning the proper sentence structure, grammar, and pronunciation.

The instruction will introduce appropriate Chinese culture, customs and songs during the teaching process.

German 2 will be offered Thursdays, March 18-May 13, from 7-9 p.m. This course is a continuation of German 1. Students will build on known vocabulary and grammar while learning new words and expressions. Instruction continues to stress including listening/comprehension, reading, writing and speaking.
