History buffs can learn how Stonewall Jackson's reputation was made during his now-famous Valley campaign of 1862 in a class and battlefield tour offered by the Gettysburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College.

The Battle of McDowell is a two-session class with the lecture portion held Wednesday, Nov. 30, 7-9 p.m. on campus. The group then will reconvene on Saturday, Dec. 3, on McDowell Battlefield for a tour from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Cost is $99. The bus will leave the Gettysburg Campus promptly at 7 a.m.

Jackson's Valley campaign began with the Battle of McDowell in which he defeated the combined Union forces of Generals Milroy and Schenck.

This class offers a unique opportunity to see a battlefield that is largely untouched by the hands of time. It also features spectacular scenic vistas.

Registration and information is available by accessing HACC's Community Education Center's Autumn 2005 Schedule of Noncredit Classes at www.hacc.edu/noncredit. Information also may be obtained by calling the Gettysburg Campus of HACC at 717-338-1010.
