Amateur dancers ages 13 to 25 are asked to create a 2 minute hip hop dance for two dancers - a duo. All contestants are encouraged to pre-register in advance and submit an instrumental CD with registration. The registration fee for each duo is $15. At the audition, a group of community judges will select the contestants who will then go on to compete in the final contest on Thursday, February 2, 2006 from 6 -8 pm at the Rose Lehrman Arts Center at HACC.
The final competition takes place the day before the arts center presents the hip hop dance group Fly Dance Company on Friday, February 3 at 7:30pm. Winners of the contest will appear in the Fly Dance finale on stage. The grand prize for the winners is two $200 Harrisburg Mall gift certificates. Other prizes include free dance lessons, tickets to shows and other gifts.
All contestants must audition first. The judging on February 2 will be conducted by a panel of professional dancers from Fly Dance Company and selected local dance instructors. Contestants MUST pre-register and there is a $15 registration fee per duo. Contestants must submit an instrumental CD for pre-screening with the registration form. (Instrumental music only.) The CD will be used at the audition and competition and will not be returned. Dance performance at the auditions must be the same as at the competition. Sexually explicit movement(s) may result in disqualification. All contestants under the age of 18 must have registration paperwork signed by a parent or guardian.
