The community is invited to join Generacion Diez families and HACC students, staff and faculty to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at HACC-Gettysburg Campus. The Hispanic Heritage Celebration will take place on Wednesday, October 4, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the Student Commons at the HACC campus, North Gettysburg Center, 731 Old Harrisburg Road, near Weis Markets and Adams County National Bank.

The celebration will feature Latino music and dance, including a program of traditional Mexican dances performed by Club Mexicano students from Generacion Diez 21st Century Community Learning Center, and meringue and salsa dance demonstrations and lessons by students in HACC Spanish classes. The Generacion Diez Parent Association will provide a buffet of traditional Hispanic foods, supplemented with desserts from the HACC Multicultural Club.

A Hispanic Heritage art exhibit will feature two area artists. Marcia Brasini-Fowler will display animal-theme mosaic mural mirrors and hand-crafted silver jewelry, and Cristina Huertas will exhibit colorful paintings reflective of her Mexican heritage.

"The Hispanic Heritage celebration provides a wonderful opportunity to practice our language skills, learn about Latino cultures, and strengthen the connections between HACC and the local Hispanic community," said campus dean Jennifer Weaver. "There's a growing population of Hispanic students at HACC-Gettysburg, including the students in our ESL (English as a Second Language) courses who have benefited from the scholarship assistance we've been able to provide this year."

The Hispanic Heritage Celebration is open to the community at no charge. For more information, call HACC at 717-337-3855.
