Move will free space for more classes, labs at its Harrisburg Campus
Sept. 25, 2009
Harrisburg, PA –HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, is planning to move some administrative offices at the Harrisburg (Wildwood) Campus to free up significant space for more classrooms and laboratories.
"This move will help us accommodate our burgeoning enrollments and delay the need for an additional building on the Harrisburg Campus," said Edna Baehre, Ph.D., president of HACC.
A number of central administrative functions -- including the office of the president -- will be relocated to the Campus Square Building across from the college's Midtown Center at Third and Reily
"Eventually, we will likely need to build to accommodate both our growth in enrollments and our central administration," Baehre said. "But this is a good mid-term solution which will help us maximize use of our current facilities while we carefully plan our future needs.
"We are fortunate that suitable office space is available near our current operations," she said. "It will help make the transition smooth and make connections to existing college infrastructure such as computer networks much easier."
The moves -- which will affect about 21 employees in Central Administration and 11 Virtual Campus employees -- will take place in December and January pending completion of the Campus Square building.
