State Department of Labor and Industry grant of $338,000 funds the program

HARRISBURG – Unemployed or underemployed workers who are interested in a career in green technology may be eligible for free training at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College through a $338,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry State Energy Sector Partnership.
HACC offers programs in entry level solar photovoltaic (PV) technician and building analysis/energy auditing with classes meeting in November and December at the Midtown site at Third and Reily streets in Harrisburg.
Through the state grant, HACC will be able to train 50 incumbent workers and 50 unemployed and underemployed workers for emerging green industry jobs. An additional 15 students may be eligible for assistance through HACC’s new “Green Technologies Studies” program available starting fall 2011.
