HACC, Central Penn partnership opens doors for students Central Penn College and HACC's Lebanon Campus formalize agreement
July 12, 2012

SUMMERDALE, July 12, 2012 - Officials from Central Penn College and HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, formalized an agreement enabling students who have earned a HACC associate degree in criminal justice to smoothly transition to a Central Penn bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration.

HACC graduates who take advantage of the new opportunity can stay close to home to complete their degree through a fully online program or by taking one Central Penn course on-site per term at HACC’s Lebanon Campus, 735 Cumberland St. in downtown Lebanon, as well as online classes.

Central Penn, which also has a bachelor’s degree completion location in Lancaster, currently is enrolling students for the fall 2012 term, which begins Oct. 8.

“Central Penn College’s long-standing relationship with HACC has strengthened over the years with multiple partnerships and programs,” said Todd A. Milano, president of Central Penn College. “I am honored to present HACC graduates with the opportunity to continue their career-focused education. HACC provides the tools and environment for students to develop their unique potential and Central Penn provides an education that helps turn that potential into career success.”

“This new agreement is another example of our valuable partnerships that make it possible for HACC graduates to achieve their additional educational goals close to home,” said John J. “Ski” Sygielski, HACC president. “Central Penn’s addition of a one-time $500 scholarship to qualifying HACC criminal justice graduates will help ease the cost of continuing on to earn a bachelor’s degree at Central Penn College, a highly respected and valued education partner,” Sygielski said.

Milano and Sygielski were joined by representatives from the two colleges and members of the Lebanon community at the signing held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at HACC’s Lebanon Campus.

The agreement allows HACC graduates with associate degrees in criminal justice to maximize their transferable credits. Participating students will have the ability to directly transfer 60 credits to Central Penn, and then complete the remaining 65 credits at Central Penn to fulfill their criminal justice administration bachelor’s degree requirements.

Criminal justice administration is Central Penn’s most popular bachelor’s degree program, accounting for nearly one-fourth of the College’s students. The program prepares students for careers in the public sector such as law enforcement, corrections, and investigation at the local, state, and/or federal levels; and private sector careers such as corporate security, juvenile justice or fraud investigation.

The program is designed to provide graduates with a comprehensive understanding of the legal, practical and theoretical aspects of the criminal justice system, as well as specialty subject matter relative to unique career ambitions.

Central Penn is a career-focused college, offering bachelor’s and associate degrees, located in Harrisburg and with additional locations in Lancaster and the Lehigh Valley. The College’s 12 fully-online degree programs are also available for students who want the flexibility and freedom to take courses from home or an off-site location. Central Penn’s mission is to provide an education that prepares its graduates to obtain employment or advancement in their chosen field, continue their education and be contributing members of society.

In addition to HACC’s Lebanon Campus, HACC has five campuses and several off-site locations in the region. HACC offers career and transfer associate degrees, certificates and diplomas and is the Central Pennsylvania’s premier workforce development provider to thousands of students enrolled in areas such as job training, customized company contracts, public safety, technology and trades, and computer training.
