Changes enhance the viability of the Campus
May 8, 2013

LEBANON –Today, HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, announced modifications to the leadership team of the Lebanon Campus as part of a continuing College-wide transformation to strengthen HACC’s responsiveness to the needs of students and communities in its 10-county service area.

The positions of campus vice president, campus dean of student affairs and enrollment management and campus director of technology support have been eliminated, effective immediately.

“Restructuring the leadership of the HACC-Lebanon Campus and reorganizing operations at all campuses are among many steps taken by the College to balance the 2013-14 budget,” said HACC President John J. “Ski” Sygielski, Ed.D.

“These steps are necessary to maintain our mission to make HACC the first choice for a quality and accessible higher education opportunity.”

“This change effectively and efficiently centralizes some of the functions at the Lebanon Campus without sacrificing the quality of instruction and outreach,” Sygielski said.

“In fact, we are hiring an English faculty member and an integrated marketing communications (IMC) coordinator as we continue to look for ways to grow the Campus,” Sygielski said.

“There are no plans to close the Lebanon Campus. We will continue to find programs and classes that meet the needs of the community,” he added.

Enhancements at the HACC-Lebanon Campus

Sygielski noted several enhancements are planned for the Campus, including:

  • Evaluating class offerings to ensure the right mix of classes
  • Adding a full-time faculty member to teach English
  • Adding an IMC coordinator to focus on advertising, branding, marketing and public relations
  • Exploring a partnership and grant to establish a pilot virtual learning and assessment center
  • Expanding the relationship with the Lebanon VA Medical Center
  • Expanding the nurse-aide training program

Service to HACC, Lebanon Community

Sygielski continued, “Kathy has been active in the community, including serving on the 2013 board of directors of the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce.”

“This was a difficult decision for me to make,” Sygielski said. “Ultimately, however, it was the right decision for the future of the Campus and the College.”

“We are grateful for Kathy’s service and dedicated leadership, and wish her well in her future endeavors,” he said.
A search for a campus executive director will begin within the next few weeks, with the job specifications to be posted on HACC’s job site.
