HARRISBURG – The annual Honors Exhibit, featuring the best work of HACC art students, will be on display Monday, April 8 through Wednesday, May 8, 2013, in the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.

The first two weeks of the show, April 8-19, will feature photography, computer art, three-dimensional design, two-dimensional design, illustration and printmaking. A reception for the artists in this segment will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, April 18.

The second two weeks, April 24-May 8, will feature graphic design, drawing, painting, glass, ceramics and jewelry. A reception for the artists in the second segment will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, May 2.

As many as 1,000 works were submitted by students for consideration in the show. Art faculty juried the submissions and selected the best works for each section of the Honors Exhibit. Awards will be presented during both receptions.

HACC has an active art department with about 400 art majors and a large number of non-majors. HACC’s art department offers courses in traditional media such as painting, drawing, photography and ceramics. Classes are also offered in glass blowing, jewelry and typography. At HACC, students may elect to take a transfer major, such as fine arts or art and design or may elect to take a career program, such as photography or graphic design. More information about HACC art programs can be found at www.hacc.edu under Academics.

All Rose Lehrman Art Gallery events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, or by appointment. Many of the works are for sale.
