LANCASTER, Pa. – Lancaster County artistJohn David Wissler will exhibit his work, “Landscapes,” from Monday, Oct. 28 to Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at the Art Space, in the East Building of the Lancaster Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
A reception where the community can meet the artist will be held Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Both the art exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
“My passion has always been the landscape,” said Wissler in describing his work. “I find the challenge of using what I have observed, taking it to my studio and creating a new painting invigorating. Drawing upon the memory of place and experience…using the language I have learned from nature, trying to keep the painting fresh…space, clarity, surprise…that’s painting!”
Wissler earned a bachelor’s degree at Kutztown (Pa.) University and a master’s degree at Parsons School of Design in New York.
Wissler has teaching experience at the Pennsylvania School of Art and Design in Lancaster, the Art Association of Harrisburg and served as an adjunct faculty member of drawing at HACC.
