Exhibit, reception free and open to public GETTYSBURG, Pa. – “Shale Perception,” work of local artist Robb Bomboy, is on exhibit in the main hallway of the Gettysburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. A reception will be held for the artist Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, from 5-6 p.m.

Bomboy was inspired to create his photography and film exhibit by the hydro fracturing process that is extracting natural gas from the Marcellus Shale region in northern Pennsylvania and its possible effect on the ground water supply.

His photographs bring into clear focus the beauty of the forest and the streams in the region. In photographs printed and mounted on canvas, Bomboy captures scenes that hunters and fishermen, trekkers and explorers have treasured since Colonial times.

According to the artist: “New now, in the forests and along the streams, is a presence that may give pause. I recognized I had to do something to bring awareness of the danger (of hydro fracturing) to lawmakers and citizens who have never been to the tranquil region.”

Bomboy earned his master’s degree in interdisciplinary humanities from Penn State University. He teaches digital media, photography and television production at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg and is a humanities instructor at HACC.

The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
