Upcoming Exhibit 'Figures' at HACC's Lancaster Campus Reception Oct. 1
Sept. 20, 2013
LANCASTER, Pa. – Chester County artist,Janet Hammond, will exhibit her work, “Figures” from Monday, Sept. 23 to Saturday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the Art Space, in the East Building of HACC’s Lancaster Campus.

A reception where the community can meet the artist will be held Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 5-7 p.m. Both the art exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

“My paintings reflect my life experience – people, places and things,” said Hammond in describing her work. “I prefer working from life, but when that’s not possible I paint from sketches, photos, memory and imagination. I try to stay true to what initially grabbed me about the subject, and the painting tells me when it is finished.”

Hammond studied art at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. and the Maryland College of Art and Design in Silver Spring, Md. She has exhibited in galleries and museums in the East and has been included in national juried competitions. Hammond is a member of the faculty at Chester Springs Studio in the village of Historic Yellow Springs in Chester Springs, Pa. She is also a member of the National Association of Women Artists. Her portrait commissions include notables in the business and equine worlds, and her paintings are in private and corporate collections in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Hours for the Art Space are 9 a.m.–7 p.m., Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. on Fridays. For more information, contact Ilene Rosenberg at 717-293-5000, ext. 71148 or email irrosenb@hacc.edu.
