Isidore "Izzy" Iradukunda - Scholarship Spotlight

Apply for scholarships before April 1

Feb. 24, 2014

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The HACC Foundation spring scholarship cycle is open now through April 1, 2014, with more than 200 scholarships available. HACC students are encouraged to apply for funds that may offset their tuition and books costs for the fall 2014 and spring 2015 terms.

Students receive scholarships and awards from the HACC Foundation as a result of charitable contributions from private and corporate donors throughout Central Pennsylvania. These scholarships and awards were established to provide educational opportunities for students who are in need, who are studying particular programs, who excel academically, who are involved in community service or who meet other criteria.

From April to December 2013, the HACC Foundation awarded scholarships to 845 students totaling nearly $1.1 million to be used for tuition and book costs.

Many students have benefitted from the generosity of the HACC Foundation donors, including the following students:

“This scholarship is much more than just money. It is such a big support that motivates anyone who receives it. This scholarship is a beginning of success for many receivers,” – Isidore Iradukunda, HACC chemistry major and recipient of the Hall Family scholarship.

“When I received a scholarship, I felt very humbled and honored to see that my hard work has been recognized and has paid off.” – Nathaniel Glick, HACC honors student, engineering major and recipient of the Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation Scholarship

“When I received a scholarship, I felt so grateful that an online student – like myself – was noticed and rewarded for working hard on my education.”

Brittany Johnson, HACC business student and recipient of the Douglas Pollock Scholarship

Students can apply online through AcademicWorks, a convenient scholarship management system that allows HACC to efficiently match students with relevant scholarship opportunities, manage awards and recognize scholarship donors. Students only need to apply once per cycle and are automatically matched to one or more scholarship opportunities based on scholarship criteria. A video tutorial is available to provide instruction on how to easily apply for scholarships.
