HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, shares recent news as well as upcoming events available to the community.

‘Claire Giblin DECADE: Works From the Last 10 Years’ Exhibited at HACC’s Gettysburg Campus

Works by Lancaster County artist Claire Giblin will be on display in the main art hallway of HACC’s Gettysburg Campus from Aug. 12 to Oct. 22, 2014. A reception for the artist will be held Sept. 10 from 3-4 p.m. Both the reception and exhibit are free and open to the public. The campus is located at 731 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg.

Giblin uses small amounts of pigment suspended in acrylic mediums to build up the canvas with thin layers of color, resulting in a painting that depicts a floating and elusive atmosphere. According to Giblin, applying layer after layer of paint enables the viewer to experience a meditative state, freeing the mind to concentrate on the poetry of color.

“Speaking to community and worldwide issues is one of the primary purposes of art. I choose to point to a place where the eye is able to rest and the mind is able to consider the power in choosing a course of peace,” Giblin said.

HACC Continues Takin’ It to the Streets’ in August

HACC continues to take its show on the road through its “Takin’ It to the Streets” campaign.

In August, HACC will make four local “tour stops” at area festivals that are fun and open to the community. Each stop allows prospective students to connect with a HACC recruiter, find out how to get started in a particular program or career path, learn about student life and apply for admission. HACC staff will be on hand to answer questions about enrollment, financial aid and plans to complete programs or transfer to four-year colleges.

HACC will be at the following locations in August 2014:
