HACC Theatre Presents ‘Godspell’ on Stage March 5-8, 2015

HACC Theatre will present Stephen Schwartz’s “Godspell” on stage in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center (RLAC) Theatre on HACC’s Harrisburg Campus in March 2015. Performances are scheduled March 5-7 at 7:30 p.m. and March 8 at 2 p.m.

“Godspell” was the first musical performed at HACC when the RLAC opened 40 years ago and is the first musical to be presented on the theatre’s stage in 20 years.

“Godspell” is a retelling of the original sensation, injected with contemporary pop-culture references and new arrangements of Schwartz’s score. Based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, a small group helps Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a variety of games, storytelling techniques and comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs ranging in style from pop to vaudeville is employed as the story of Jesus's life dances across the stage.

The production is directed by Dave Olmsted, HACC scenic designer and theatre instructor, and music direction is by Genevieve Karki, adjunct instructor of music. The 2012 revised version of “Godspell” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International, which also provided all authorized performance materials.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors for performances on March 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. and March 8 at 2:30 p.m. HACC students are invited to a “Student Night” performance on March 5 at 7:30 p.m. All seats for this performance are $5 with valid student identification.

For tickets, call 717-231-ROSE (7673) or visit www.hacc.edu/RLAC.

Is Your Company Hiring? Participate in the 15th Annual Spring Job Fair at HACC’s Lancaster Campus

Employers looking for a venue to meet and hire employees can take advantage of 15th annual Partnering for Success Job Fair on March 18-19, 2015, at the Lancaster Campus of HACC. This two-day event will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. each day in the East Building on the campus.

The job fair is a great way to tap into Lancaster County’s labor pool to hire just the right employees – and an opportunity for job seekers to meet industry leaders in their field and to find out about potential jobs and internships. Last year, more than 60 companies from the Lancaster area workforce interviewed potential candidates, including HACC students and members of the public.

Employers can choose which day they want to participate based upon availability – March 18 or March 19. The registration fee is $65 if received by March 5. After that date, the cost is $85, if space allows.

To register as an employer, visit www.hacc.edu/lancasterjobfair. For additional information, contact Lorie Sonnen, assistant director of career services, at 717-358-2290 or llsonnen@hacc.edu.

HACC Saves $1.9 Million by Refinancing Bonds

HACC refinanced $19.9 million of capital improvement bonds in January 2015. As a result, the College will save $1.9 million – an approximate 9-percent refunding savings rate – by borrowing at lower interest rates on outstanding bonds issued in 2009 and 2010.

Refinancing the outstanding capital improvement bonds will not extend the term of the original bonds; however, it will slightly accelerate payments at a lower interest rate.

HACC’s Board of Trustees approved refinancing of the bonds in November 2014, enabling the College’s Office of Finance to work with its independent financial advisor, Public Financial Management, Harrisburg, to obtain the savings.

The College, with a strong Standard & Poor's credit rating of “A-”, worked with Public Financial Management to select an underwriter through a competitive process. Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, Philadelphia, submitted the lowest bid resulting in an overall interest rate on the new bonds of approximately 2.476 percent.
