HACC Offers Accelerated Classes During New Winter Term
HARRISBURG, Pa. – A new winter term is being offered at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. Four-week accelerated classes will be held Dec. 19, 2016, through Jan. 13, 2017, and a variety of general education courses will be offered.

Registration for both the winter 2016 and spring 2017 terms begins Oct. 31 for active military and veterans, Nov. 2 for current students and Nov. 14 for future students.

Winter registration will end on Dec. 7, 2016, and spring registration will end on Jan. 16, 2017. Students may use financial aid for the winter 2016 term if they are also enrolled in spring 2017 classes.

Due to the accelerated nature of the winter term classes, students are limited to four credits each.

The physical College campuses will be closed from Dec. 24, 2016, through Jan. 2, 2017, for winter break. However, employees assisting with the winter term will be available to respond to voicemail messages and emails during that time. In addition, the College’s IT Support Center will be available from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 27-30. Online 24-hour chat support will be provided for students through Brightspace by D2L.

Exhibit by Former Art Professor Opens Oct. 17
‘Backstage Glimpses’ will be on display through Dec. 6 at HACC’s Lancaster Campus
LANCASTER, Pa. – “Backstage Glimpses,” a collection of illustrations and sketches of stage and costume design by Lancaster artist Victor Capecce, will be on display Oct. 17-Dec. 6, 2016, in the Art Space in the East Building of HACC’s Lancaster Campus.

Capecce, a former adjunct professor of theatre at the campus, will give an informal talk during a reception on Oct. 20 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public.

Capecce’s illustrations and sketches depict various elements of theatrical productions, including three-dimensional models of stage designs, which reflect his extensive career. He previously was a scenic artist and designer in New York City, where he designed scenery and costumes for “L’Histoire du Soldat” for the New York City Opera. His design credits include work for the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” and numerous productions both on and off Broadway.

Closer to home, Capecce designed the setting for a production of “The Boyfriend,” a joint venture between Theatre Harrisburg and HACC’s Rose Lehrman Arts Center. He previously was designer and technical director for Theatre Harrisburg at the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg and producing director of American Music Theatre in Lancaster.

Capecce is currently an associate professor and technical director of stage design and theatre management at Millersville University. He continues to contribute to student and professional performances.

Art Space hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
