HARRISBURG, Pa. – New articulation agreements recently signed with two local four-year institutions will smooth the transition for students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, who want to continue their education for a bachelor’s degree at those institutions.
HACC President John J. “Ski” Sygielski, Ed.D., and Central Penn College President Karen M. Scolforo, Ed.D., signed articulation agreements on March 11, 2016, for programs, including accounting, criminal justice, health science, legal studies, marketing and registered nurse to bachelor of science in nursing. The formal signing was held at Central Penn College in Summerdale.
These agreements enable graduates of a HACC associate degree program to enroll in a parallel Central Penn College program, maximizing transferable credits. The program-to-program transfers will provide students with 60 transferrable credits from HACC and the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree program by fulfilling the remaining 65 to 66 credits as required through Central Penn College offerings. Faculty and staff from both institutions worked hard to match programs credit hour for credit hour in an effort to minimize surprises when transferring transcripts from HACC to Central Penn College.
On March 18, Dr. Ski and York College President Pamela Gunter-Smith, Ph.D., signed articulation agreements to provide a pathway for students in several academic programs to earn an associate degree at HACC and transfer to York College to earn a bachelor’s degree. The two colleges signed agreements for biology, criminal justice, human services, mathematics, music industry, psychology, RN/BS nursing, secondary education and sociology. The formal signing was held at York College in York.
HACC students who earn an associate degree in one of these programs with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher and follow the prescribed York College bachelor’s degree requirements are assured admission to York College as a junior. HACC and York College signed a similar agreement for hospitality and tourism management students in 2015.
HACC works with several four-institutions to provide options for HACC students to continue their education. For more information, please visit the
