Institutions partner to educate HACC students and graduates about bachelor degree opportunities
That partnership is evident in the Bloomsburg Bachelor of Applied Science in Technical Leadership (BASTL), which allows HACC graduates with an associate degree to earn a bachelor’s degree in Harrisburg. HACC graduates can transfer 60 credits toward their bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University.
Most of the classes are held online and in the evenings to allow more flexibility for working students. Classes that must be completed in-person are held at the Dixon University Center in Harrisburg and at HACC’s Harrisburg Campus. Part-time and full-time options are available to complete the program.
“This is my first semester in the BASTL program at Bloomsburg University. This program is allowing me to get a degree at an esteemed university, but conveniently from my local community college. As an adult learner, I appreciate the convenience, but also the top-notch education I am receiving. My first class is instructional design. This class is providing me with information that is assisting me every day at my job as a branch manager for a regional bank. I would recommend this program to anyone," said Alicia Frederick, HACC alumna and BASTL student.
“This partnership started in 2015 and continues to benefit HACC alumni and current students. Alumni may be looking for opportunities to advance their technical skills to grow in their positions, and our current students are learning the emerging technology and opportunities to grow into supervisory and managerial positions in the workplace,” said Kathleen T. Doherty, Ph.D., associate provost at HACC.
Interested students are encouraged to attend an information session on Nov. 8 or Dec. 6, 2017, from 3-6:30 p.m. in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center, Room 103 on HACC’s Harrisburg Campus.
