Conference Celebrates Academic Research and Scholarship

WHO: Faculty and students from HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College
WHAT: HACC-Con is an interdisciplinary academic research conference that gives students a venue in which they can examine their interests informed by what they have learned in their classes. 
WHEN: Dec. 3-13, 2018
WHERE: Whitaker Hall on HACC’s Harrisburg Campus
COVERAGE: During the conference sessions, students develop skills—such as quantitative literacy, written communication, critical thinking, technology literacy, oral communication, information literacy and global awareness—that constitute the general education outcomes of the College. HACC-Con empowers students, giving them an opportunity to address topics that are important to them while emphasizing the humility that is necessary for scientific research including: 
  • Are More Women Against Abortion Than Men?
  • An Examination of Cross-Cultural Differences
  • Disney and Racism

Scholarly research conferences are a rarity at community colleges, and HACC is a trailblazer in offering this kind of experience to students.
