A Cappella Re-Imagined with VoicePlay at HACC
HARRISBURG, Pa. – Recreating the orchestrated sound of an entire musical production with nothing but the human voice, VoicePlay will perform timeless a cappella hits March 14, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. at Live at Rose Lehrman on the Harrisburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.

What began as a street-corner barbershop act has evolved into an internationally acclaimed touring sensation, as seen on Season 4 of NBC’s “The Sing-Off!” VoicePlay has re-imagined a cappella as a full-stage show with inventive and often hilarious onstage theatrics.

Performance tickets are $28 for adults, $18 for students grades K-12 and $10 for HACC students. To purchase tickets, please visit LiveatRoseLehrman.org. For more information, please call 717-231-7673.

Sponsors for this event include the HACC Foundation, WHTM abc27 and HACC’s Student Government Association. Lawrence Koplovitz Foundation; and from the Arts for All Partnership, a partnership between the Cultural Enrichment Fund and the Greater Harrisburg Foundation, a regional foundation of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities.

Photo Exhibit at HACC Features Work of Retired Physician Executive
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Charles D. Marley Jr., D.O., MHA, concludes the 2018-19 art series at HACC’s Gettysburg Campus with an exhibit of original photographs on display March 4-May 10, 2019.

Marley is a recently retired physician executive who served as chief medical officer at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital from 2007-18. He has loved photography since receiving his first Brownie Instamatic camera at the age of 10. He started a wedding photography business at 22 and within five years was photographing 28 weddings each year.

Marley’s selections for his “Photographic Meanderings” exhibit represent a sampling of travel photography mixed with “backyard macro photography.” The photographs are documentary in nature and represent a range of genres and techniques.

A reception is scheduled for March 26 from 10:45-11:30 a.m. in the campus’s art gallery hallway. Marley will lead with brief remarks at 10:45 a.m. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

Local artists are selected to display their work at the Gettysburg Campus each year based on specific criteria. Artwork must help fulfill the College’s mission to foster excellence in the educational and cultural growth of its service areas; supplement and enhance educational objectives; and help students expand their horizons by exposing them to new or unfamiliar artistic ideas and themes.

Art Exhibit at HACC Celebrates 20 Years of Friendship
LANCASTER, Pa. – Two professors of art at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will celebrate 20 years of friendship and artistic collaboration through “Fiesta,” a collaborative exhibit now through March 26, 2019, at HACC’s Lancaster Campus.

Rafael Henin and Garrick Dorsett met in 1997. Both men received their bachelor of fine arts degrees from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Their passion for photography and working with glass fueled their friendship over the years and helped them persevere through difficult financial times.

In 2008, Henin and Dorsett began teaching photography and glass blowing classes at HACC. This will be the first show where they have exhibited their work together.

The exhibit will feature blown and sand-carved glass and illustrations.

In a combined statement, the artists wrote, “This unintended combination of mediums has been brought together by friendship, experiences, familiarity and good old fashioned fate between two people who just happen to stick together through all of life’s miscalculated developments.”

A reception with the artists will be held at the Lancaster Campus Art Space on Feb. 27 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Exhibit hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
