HARRISBURG, Pa. – ‘Tis the season to be thankful as we observe the 2019 winter holidays. At HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, students and employees are reaching out to those in need at our campuses and in our communities so they, too, can enjoy the season.

HACC’s Gettysburg Campus
Through the campus “Give Back HACC” program, students in financial need will receive a $25 grocery store gift card and a gift bag of household supplies and groceries. Distribution is Dec. 2-13 in the Welcome Center. The campus Student Government Association (SGA) held a candy bar fundraiser to support the project. Monetary and product donations also were accepted.

HACC’s Harrisburg Campus
Students and employees are contributing non-perishable items for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in boxes set up in the Bruce E. Cooper Student Center. The items will be given to the food bank for Thanksgiving and December holidays.

With the arrival of the holiday season, Salvation Army donation boxes are located in Blocker Hall and the Cooper Student Center for winter wear such as scarves, jackets, gloves and clothing. Both donation boxes will be picked up prior to the winter holiday break in December. Items donated are sold at the Salvation Army’s Family Stores with proceeds used to fund their Adult Rehabilitation Centers.

The Student Nursing Organization club collected hygiene products and put together hygiene bags for HACC students who may be in need. The bags are being distributed this month.

On Veterans Day on Nov. 11, students and employees participated in a campus-wide community service project to assemble 700 hygiene kits for the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg Veterans Programs. This project was sponsored by the SGA in collaboration with PSECU and the Student Development and Multicultural Programs Department.

HACC’s Lancaster Campus
Members of the Students of Radiological Technology Club and the campus are partnering for a Toys for Tots drive held by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.

HACC’s Lebanon Campus
Students and employees have a “Live Warm” partnership with United Way of Lebanon County. They are collecting coats, gloves and other items to help keep those in need warm this winter.

HACC’s Workforce Development Division
Employees in this division are supporting the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg’s Holiday Giving Program. The employees provide gifts to adults and children who are part of this program.

HACC’s York Campus
The campus bookstore is a Toys for Tots collection site for students and employees to make donations to this annual project.
