Remains Pennsylvania’s only college to offer VetSuccess on Campus
March 11, 2020
HARRISBURG, Pa. – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, has been designated a 2020-21 Military Friendly® School and a 2019-20 Pennsylvania National Guard Associations (PNGAS) Guard-Friendly School.

The Military Friendly® Schools
list is created each year using public data sources for more than 8,800 schools nationwide, including input from student veterans and responses to a survey from participating institutions, according to VIQTORY, a military marketing company that connects the military community to civilian opportunities.

Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans, the company said.

The PNGAS Guard-Friendly School designation is given to colleges, universities and trade schools that meet or exceed 10 baseline criteria that create a supportive learning environment to assist members and veterans of the Pennsylvania Guard pursuing post-secondary degrees.

HACC’s student-veteran enrollment is the largest of any Pennsylvania community college and the
second largest of all post-secondary public institutions in the state. HACC offers all veterans in-state tuition, regardless of location. HACC is the only college in Pennsylvania chosen to participate in VetSuccess on Campus, a federal program aimed at easing the transition to academic life for military veterans and their families.

The
Military and Veteran Affairs Office (MVAO) at HACC provides a wide range of services every year to approximately 1,200 veterans and their dependents who enroll at one of the College’s five campuses in Central Pennsylvania or online from locations worldwide.
