This story is part of our “HACC Heroes” series. We recognize the severity of the global coronavirus pandemic and its impact on our communities. During this challenging time, we want to thank and recognize some of the many HACC employees, students and others who are making a difference. The hero of this story is the HACC Foundation for generously helping students further their education by supplying much-needed financial assistance.

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The HACC Foundation has generously committed to awarding 40 tuition giveaways to support current and future students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.

The HACC Foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance to HACC students, many of whom were negatively impacted by the global coronavirus pandemic and unable to meet the requirements to earn HACC Foundation scholarships.

Linnie Carter, Ph.D., APR, vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation, said, “HACC and the HACC Foundation believe in access and opportunity. These tuition giveaways will give current and future students access to a college education and opportunities to become productive citizens in Central Pennsylvania. When students learn that they have received $1,000 to assist with their HACC tuition and fees, it is as if they won the lottery. Helping others - especially during times of crises - is what we do best at HACC.”

The $1,000 tuition giveaways will help students pay for their tuition and fees during the summer semester. Tuition giveaways can mean the difference between students continuing their education or stopping due to financial hardships.

Thank you, HACC Foundation, for continually investing in HACC students.
