HARRISBURG, Pa. – Student success, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging continue to be top priorities at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. Thanks to the generous donors of the HACC Foundation, these priorities are more than just words - they are actions that will continue to positively impact HACC students and employees for years to come.

The College is proud to receive a $75,000 donation from The GIANT Company to improve accessibility by installing automatic doors and/or openers for building access on the College’s campuses. The project will begin this fall and be completed in 2024.

Linnie S. Carter, Ph.D., APR, the vice president of college advancement at HACC and executive director of the HACC Foundation, said, “We are grateful for our partnership with The GIANT Company and their support for inclusion, diversity and belonging initiatives at HACC. We hope to continue taking the necessary steps to make our community more accessible and inclusive for our students, employees and other stakeholders.”

Armenta Hinton, Ph.D., the College’s vice president of inclusion, diversity and belonging, and Title IX coordinator, added, “At HACC, we believe that college should be accessible to all. The automatic doors and openers will eliminate a barrier for students who are seeking to achieve their dreams with us.”

“For many years, The GIANT Company has proudly partnered with HACC, including supporting the Inclusion and Diversity Fund for Excellence and scholarships to students from diverse backgrounds,” said John Ruane, president, The GIANT Company. “We are honored to help HACC improve accessibility across its campuses as part of our 100th anniversary celebration by creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and campus visitors to learn, connect, and thrive.”
