HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Rose Lehrman Arts Center at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will host a screening of documentarian David Heineman’s film “NEPADOC” at 7 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2024. Afterward, Heineman will answer questions about his work.

According to the film’s website, “‘NEPADOC’ is the acclaimed feature-length documentary about intersections of environment, industry and identity in Northeastern Pennsylvania over the past 300 years. Inspired by non-verbal documentary film landmarks such as ‘Koyaanisqatsi’ and ‘Baraka’, ‘NEPADOC’ blends 4K cinematography, local historical footage and a sweeping score into a dizzying and contemplative meditation on culture, place and public memory.”

“NEPADOC” is the culmination of over a decade of research Heineman conducted exploring the history and culture of Northeastern Pennsylvania, a region often called NEPA. The documentary was filmed in more than a dozen Pennsylvania counties during an eight-month period. This is Heineman’s first feature film, and a trailer is available on YouTube. Heineman is a professor at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania – Bloomsburg.

The screening is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Michael Corradino, HACC’s executive dean of science and math, at mccorrad@hacc.edu.
