Meet La-Kita: Helping Women Discover Their Purpose

La-Kita Gilmore said she chose HACC because “it was accessible in her hometown and offered a high standard of education that is also transferable to continuing education institutions.” She graduated with a degree in business.

After graduating from HACC, La-Kita earned a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies and a master’s degree in ministry leadership from Lancaster Bible College. Shortly after, she began her career.
Today, La-Kita is the director of business training and development at WebFX, a digital marketing agency in Harrisburg. She is also the founder and CEO of Women of Purpose, which empowers women to “discover, develop and activate their purpose so they can lead and serve in their community.”
La-Kita has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including the 2023 Karen F. Snider Women in Philanthropy Award from the Foundation for Enhancing Communities and the 2024 Barbara Davenport Loving Souls Community Service Award from the Central Pennsylvania Coalition United to Fight Cancer, CATALYST.
La-Kita said she derives great fulfillment from her career and surmounted several challenges to find success. She said, “I overcame the challenges of self-doubt and lack of confidence with the help of supportive individuals, family and mentors. As a woman, I know how these two negative mindsets can hold you back, but I refused to let them define me. Instead, I chose to aim high and pursue continuing education, even when it seemed impossible. And I succeeded. This is proof that we should never limit ourselves or our potential.
