The steel framework is about 70% complete at the site of the new Lancaster Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College at the intersection of Pitney Road and Old Philadelphia Pike (RT 340) in East Lampeter Township. The general contractor for the new Lancaster Campus, Penncrest Construction Corp., awarded the steel construction contract to local steel fabricator, Ira G. Steffy and Son, Inc., in Ephrata.

Gary Erb, vice president in charge of construction for Ira G. Steffy and Son, Inc., says production is on target. "We have the right side and front pretty much completed. We are right on schedule - we should hang the last bit of steel on the left wing by the courtyard by the end of the month. By then you should be able to see the frame of what the building will ultimately look like."

The new Lancaster Campus will open in July 2001 in time for the start of the 2001 fall semester.

The Lancaster Campus of HACC continues to offer a full range of college credit, noncredit, workforce development courses and continuing education programs at its current site on New Holland Avenue.
