Communications company, Sprint, presented a check for $10,000 to the Harrisburg Area Community College Foundation Wednesday, July 18, at 11:45am in the college's C. Ted Lick Wildwood Conference Center. Sprint's contribution directly supports the HACC Foundation's Campaign for Scholarships and its annual golf classic that raises scholarship money for hundreds of financially needy HACC students.

John M. Caldwell, senior public affairs manager for Sprint, will present HACC with the $10,000 corporate sponsorship. "HACC is an important educational resource for a lot of people living in Central Pennsylvania," says Caldwell. "The college serves a very diverse student population, many of whom are customers of Sprint. This gift for scholarships provides a wonderful opportunity for us to assist these students. Sprint is very pleased to be able to make this contribution to such a fine institution."

"The HACC Foundation is honored to recognize Sprint's continued commitment to making higher education an affordable reality for students at HACC," says Maida Connor, executive director for the HACC Foundation. "We are most appreciative of Sprint's role as the lead corporate sponsor for the Campaign for Scholarships Golf Classic."

The HACC Foundation has established a goal of raising $125,000 in new scholarship monies from this year's pro-am golf event. Directed by Frank J. Dixon, member of the HACC Foundation Board of Directors, the campaign for Scholarships Golf Classic will be held on Monday and Tuesday, October 1 and 2, at the Country Club of Hershey.

Since 1996, the HACC Foundation's Central Pennsylvania Pro-Am Golf Classic has raised more than $250,000 in scholarship aid for financially needy HACC students at the Wildwood, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Gettysburg Campuses.
