Harrisburg Area Community College and Drexel University together have expanded their current dual admission agreement, enabling HACC graduates who are interested in behavioral and addictions counseling to obtain a four-year degree.

Under this latest agreement, HACC graduates who earn an associate's degree in psychology, social science, social services, or human services are guaranteed admission to Drexel's College of Nursing and Health Professions, where they can complete a bachelor's degree in either Behavioral Counseling Sciences or Addiction Counseling Sciences in as little as four semesters. Plans are underway to provide students with the opportunity to attend classes in these programs at either HACC's Wildwood Campus or Drexel's Philadelphia Health Sciences Campus.

HACC graduates planning to take advantage of this program must maintain a grade point average of at least 2.5 with no grade below a "C", and declare their intent to transfer to Drexel while still enrolled at HACC, or as early as their senior year of high school.

A maximum of 60 credits may be transferred to Drexel, and students can receive degree credit for Advanced Placement and through the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). Admitted HACC graduates enter Drexel's College of Nursing and Health Professions in a junior (third-year) status, and are entitled to the same financial aid opportunities as all other Drexel juniors. In addition to the cost savings, HACC students who plan to transfer to Drexel University will have access to academic and career advising as well as all other student services at both institutions while enrolled under the Dual Admission Agreement.
