Several non-credit classes in the popular Allied Health program at the Lancaster Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College will be offered this summer.

Student Skills for Healthcare will be offered on Tuesdays, July 13 to 27, from 5 to 6pm. This course will meet the needs of individuals who are contemplating healthcare as a career.

The first step in being a successful healthcare worker is doing well as a student. The challenges of balancing the multiple roles of students who want to work in healthcare will be explored.

Those who have been "out of school" for years as well as the student who is just starting a college program will benefit from the material covered in this course.

All students are new college students regardless of what experience they have. This course will give any future college students, especially healthcare majors, the skills to be successful as a student.

IV Certification Course will be offered on Mondays, July 19 to 26, from 8am to 4:30pm.

This program is designed to fulfill the requirements for intravenous therapy education for licensed practical nurses in Pennsylvania. This interactive course will focus on the performance of venipuncture, calculation, regulation of infusions, maintenance of IV sites and the recognition and treatment of the complications of IV therapy.

Supervised simulated insertions allow a critique of the skills learned and an opportunity for individual instruction. This course also will serve as a good review for Registered Nurses.

These are just some of the many Community Education classes offered this summer at the Lancaster Campus of Harrisburg Area Community College located at 1641 Old Philadelphia Pike.
