Women from the community and local colleges are invited to a conference at HACC that brings together community civic leaders and workshops that share strategies for health, reaffirmation and success.

The Women of Color conference is at the C. Ted Lick Wildwood Conference Center on HACC's Harrisburg Campus on Friday, October 14 from 8:15 am to 3:15 pm.

"This year's conference focuses on the many styles of today's women - participants will have the chance to take a little time to discover and develop their own individual style," said Lynne Dillard, director of alumni affairs and HACC Foundation special projects who is coordinating this event. "Personally and professionally, the conference is a great opportunity to take a break from work, learn something about yourself and relate to your peers and just re-energize."

A panel of civic leaders will discuss the styles of leadership for women of color. The moderator for the panel discussion is Patricia Gadsden, founder and president of Life Esteem, a personal and professional training/consulting firm. She and husband Rev. Dr. Nathaniel Gadsden co-host a weekly public affairs television program, Life Esteem, on WHP 21.

Panelists are Vera Cornish, publisher of Urban Connection, and president of Cornish & Associates, a provider of professional services to businesses, community-based organizations, government entities and artistic organizations; Nadine Amina Kim, director of development services of Harristown Development Corporation (HDC); Patty Kim, former WHP 21 reporter, mother and candidate for Harrisburg City Council; Sol B. Vázquez-Otero, executive director for the Mt. Pleasant Hispanic American Center in Harrisburg and a member of the Harrisburg School District elected board.

In addition to the panel discussion participants can select from concurrent workshops that offer successful approaches to balancing stress, managing finances, reaching potential, self assessment, developing personal fashion style, balancing a profession and family and more.

The cost of the conference is $55 per person and includes lunch and reception. For more information click on the Website below, call HACC's Office of Multicultural Affairs at (717) 780-1100, or send an email to the contact email address below.
