New students who are registered for the spring semester at HACC-Gettysburg Campus will attend a student orientation session at the campus before their classes begin. Students can attend either an evening orientation on Wednesday, January 5, 6:00 to 8:00pm, or a daytime session on Saturday, January 8, 9:30 to 11:30am. The student orientation is required for new full-time students and strongly recommended for new part-time students.

Orientation coordinator Arthur Sutton said that the agenda will include information about the college's student services, learning center and library resources. There will also be a panel discussion with current students and faculty, and an opportunity for the new students to ask questions. Sutton noted that students at previous orientation sessions have commented that "the atmosphere is relaxed and personable, the professors at Gettysburg - HACC care about student success and the orientation session relieved many of fears and anxieties about college."

The college is still taking registrations for spring classes, which begin January 12. The Gettysburg Campus also offers classes in Hanover, which begin January 24. To RSVP to the orientation session, or for more information about HACC, call 717-337-3855.

HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, offers twenty-nine academic programs at the Gettysburg Campus, including transfer and career associate degree programs, certificate and diploma programs. Additional programs can be completed through combined student at the Gettysburg and Harrisburg campuses, and most of the general education and supporting courses for a wide variety of health career programs can be completed at Gettysburg. Almost 1400 students were enrolled at HACC's Gettysburg Campus for the fall 2004 semester.
