Get it Started at HACC is a free event that is open to everyone as an opportunity to see the wide range of study that HACC has to offer.

Scheduled for Saturday, October 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event kicks off in the Cooper Student Center on the Harrisburg Campus where a fair-like atmosphere will greet participants. In addition to information on HACC's wide range of programs, there will be representatives from various clubs, organizations and athletics to discuss the value they bring to the college experience.

Prospective students, their parents and members of the community are invited to come and go at their leisure, taking advantage of the student services providers, faculty coordinators and representatives of student organizations who will be on hand to answer their questions. In addition, representatives from areas of study, such as the new massage therapy program that starts in January, geospatial technology, auto technology, chemistry, pottery, graphic design and culinary arts, will provide demonstrations as a way to highlight their programs.

Campus tours will be offered throughout the day and will include stops in the science and technology labs, as well as the Select Medical Health Education Pavilion, The Benjamin Olewine III Center for the Study of Culinary Arts and Food Service Management, the Rose Lehrman Arts Center and gallery, the McCormick Library, and the Grace Milliman Pollock Childcare and Early Childhood Education Center.

Students interested in enrolling in the fall semester 2007 should take this opportunity to learn more about HACC's new Midtown location, the former Evangelical Press building which is currently undergoing remodeling at Third and Reily Streets in Harrisburg. The new HACC location will offer a wide range of industrial technology programs, as well as the college's growing building trades offerings.

In addition to career and transfer programs, HACC has also expanded its athletic program in recent years. Men's and women's teams for basketball, men's soccer, golf and women's volleyball have grown increasingly popular among students. The James Evans Physical Education Center is available to registered students and includes a gym, pool, weight room, racquetball courts, outdoor facilities, putting green, sand volleyball court, field and sidewalk track.

Students new to the college experience will want to visit The Center for Academic Success's display during the Get it Started at HACC event. Support programs are available for students that can help them maintain good grades and have a successful college experience. These programs include tutoring, workshops on study/research/test taking skills and disability services.
