HACC's Second Stage Company, the touring company of the Theatre Department of Central Pennsylvania's Community College, will present the delightful comedy, "Educating Rita," by Willy Russell at the college's York Center, Gettysburg Campus and Harrisburg Campus.

The first performance takes place Wednesday, Sept. 26 in the student commons area at the York Center located at 2010 Pennsylvania Ave. The next performance is Thursday, Sept. 27 in room 109 of the Gettsyburg Campus at 731 Old Harrisburg Road in Gettysburg. The last performance is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 28, in the Studio Theatre in the Rose Lehrman Arts Center on the Harrisburg Campus.

Curtain time is 8 p.m. for all three free performances. Tickets are not required but seating is limited so theatergoers are advised to arrive early.

"Rita is a nontraditional student, as many of our HACC students are - struggling to keep a job and a family together as they attend classes and do homework assignments sometimes late at night," said Marnie Brennan, theater professor who is directing the play.

"This isn't just a celebration of Rita's triumph, this is a celebration of all students who have had to strive hard to get their education," Brennan added.

Adjunct professor Angela Ruediger as Rita and assistant professor David Bailey as Frank will have the audience laughing, crying and thinking as they cheer Rita on in her search for an education and finding herself in the process.
