HARRISBURG – Multi-talented craftsman Cynthia Hardwicke of Mechanicsburg acknowledges her inspiration is a celebration of the environment. She is the November featured craftsman at Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop
“The natural world provides us with sustenance as well as visual, auditory and tactile joy,” Hardwicke says. “I hope that my work conveys a feeling of respect, awe, and a celebration of the environment that nurtures us all and continues to be a source of my inspiration.”
Hardwicke’s most recent works are created with clay, a medium that she rediscovered last summer. Her works include clay whistles in animal forms as well as dishes, bowls, vases, Ikebana containers, bird baths and fountains with a leaf or nature-inspired motif.
Hardwicke, who also has been coordinator/teacher of the arts program at the Londonderry School since 1989, also creates fused and slumped glass and flameworked glass beads, mosaics, jewelry, and black and white photograph.
An open house with the artist will be held 1-3 p.m. Nov. 9. Light refreshments will be provided.
