1-31                 Radius Featured Craftsman – Bill Yoder of Souderton at Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop in The State Museum.
                        Bill Yoder creates handcrafted writing instruments and desk accessories from local and exotic American hardwoods. Made in the Old World tradition, no two are alike. Yoder is a graduate of Millersville University, now retired after 36 years of teaching woodworking and technology education for the North Penn School District in Lansdale. He returned to his love of wood turning and the desire to create practical products that are especially unique.
                        Yoder provides corporate gifts and other commissions, including a gift of a walnut letter opener given to Pope John Paul II from a choral group from Penndale Junior High School who performed for the pontiff.

Dec. 6              Open house and demonstration for December Featured Craftsman Bill Yoder of Souderton at Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop in The State Museum. Yoder demonstrates wood turning techniques from 1-3 p.m. His unique designs in pens and desk accessories are available at the shop.

                         Radius, on the ground floor of the State Museum of Pennsylvania, Third and North streets, is a partnership between HACC and the Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission. The gallery and museum shop carries the work of more than 60 craftsmen, including HACC students, members of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and other talented artists from around the state.

Dec. 12            Holiday Open House – Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop
 
                        Share the holiday spirit with your family and friends at the fifth annual open house at Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop at The State Museum of Pennsylvania, 300 North St., Harrisburg. Handcrafted textiles, pottery, glass and unique jewelry created by HACC students and members of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen are great for gift-giving. Deck the Halls: Holiday Ornaments is the current showcase series and offers unique gifts. Craft demonstrations in wood, jewelry and ceramics throughout the day. December featured craftsman is wood artist Bill Yoder.
                         Refreshments served. Hours for the open house are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. For information call Radius at 787-5590.

Dec. 18            Deadline for entries: January/February Radius Showcase Series – "Turn a Cheek: Face Pottery." Pennsylvania artisans are invited to submit their handcrafted face pottery to the Showcase Series at Radius, at The State Museum of Pennsylvania, which will run during January and February.
                         Artists are limited to four entries, submitted either by e-mail or on a disk and sent in postal mail. There is no fee to enter; all work chosen for the showcase must be available for sale on consignment. Artists whose work is chosen are responsible for delivery and return of their work.
                         Direct all e-mail entries to Jessica Watson, curator of arts and assistant manager, at jlwatson@hacc.edu. Disks should be addressed to Watson at 300 N. Third St., Harrisburg, PA 17120. For additional information call Radius, HACC Gallery and Museum Shop at 787-5590.
