HACC Chef Instructor Michael Finch Michael A. Finch elected vice president of ACF chapter

Harrisburg, PA – HACC Chef Instructor Michael A. Finch recently was elected vice president of the American Culinary Federation, Chapter PA 181. He will serve in the post for 2009 as the group prepares to host the ACF’s 2010 Northeast Regional Convention at the Hershey Lodge.
Finch, an ACF Certified Executive Chef, previously was vice president of the ACF’s Harrisburg Chapter and is a member of the ACF’s National Accreditation Team.
Finch is one of the chef instructors for the Olewine Center for the Study of Culinary Arts at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. He coordinates student operations at Bricco, the college’s teaching restaurant in downtown Harrisburg. Bricco operates as a partnership of HACC and the Harrisburg Hotel Corporation, managing partner of the Harrisburg Hilton.
Well known in culinary circles, Finch will be among the judges for the PA Preferred Celebrity Chefs and Media Cook-Off during opening day of the 2009 Pennsylvania Farm Show. Throughout his career, Finch has worked with many talented and celebrity chefs, including Emeril Lagasse, Michael LaMonaco, former chef of the famed Windows on the World, and Walter Scheib, former White House chef. Finch also was featured on a PBS special broadcast titled “Incredible Pennsylvania Chefs.”
A collection of his recipes recently was published in “Settings: A Cookbook,” written and published by Julie Sullivan, owner of Honeydew Events in Harrisburg. The book is a collaboration of contributors and showcases the foods, people and sites of the region. Finch’s recipes reflect his work and involvement with the YWCA’s American Journey fund-raising events, Slow Foods Harrisburg and Bricco. Finch also is on Food and Beverage Conference Committee for the Pennsylvania Tourism & Lodging Association.
