Special performance on May 9 by Gettysburg's Ruthmary McIlhenny brings audience anecdotes, humor about famous first couple

Gettysburg, PA – Make Mother’s Day weekend special for mom this year and take her to see “Mamie in Gettysburg,” a one-woman dramatization of First Lady Mamie Eisenhower, and a special buffet lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Gettysburg Campus of HACC.
The costumed presentation is by Ruthmary McIlhenny, who has volunteered and trained for 15 years as a guide at the Eisenhower National Historic site in Gettysburg. Her anecdotes about Gettysburg’s most famous couple include insights from historical research, oral histories and personal meetings with members of the Eisenhower family.
McIlhenny’s performance is a recollection of Mamie’s first meeting with Ike, trials and tribulations of marriage to a famous war hero and president, politics, and their life together in Gettysburg.
The cost of the performance and luncheon is $25 per person. The deadline to register is May 4. For reservations, make checks payable to HACC and mail to the Continuing Education Division, HACC Gettysburg Campus, 731 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
