Harrisburg, PA – HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, recently announced the appointment of three executives to its administrative staff.
Virgil Ganescu, Ph.D., of York has been appointed dean of technology for HACC’s Harrisburg Campus. Dennis Heinle, MBA, of York has been appointed director of the Alex Grass Institute for Business Leadership and the Professional Development Institute. Rob Steinmetz, Ed.D., of Harrisburg has been appointed vice president of student affairs and enrollment management.
As dean of technology, Ganescu provides curricular leadership college wide for all programs falling under the computer, engineering and industrial technology departments. He also provides operational leadership to those programs housed on the Harrisburg Campus.
Ganescu has more than 10 years experience teaching in post-secondary environments, as well as experience supervising college faculty. Most recently, he served as dean of academic affairs for the Chantilly, Va., Campus of ITT Tech.
In addition to holding various certifications, such as Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Certified Electronics Engineer, Ganescu is an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society.
Ganescu earned both his bachelor’s degree and doctorate in mechanical engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania.
Heinle is responsible for the overall operations of the Alex Grass Institute for Business Leadership including developing and implementing executive education programs, workshops, seminars, conferences, and training events relating to leadership. He is also responsible for developing and implementing leadership programs for faculty and staff within the college.
Heinle brings a wealth of senior executive experience in the academic, healthcare and financial arenas to his position with the college. Most recently, he served as the director of The Leadership Institute at Mansfield University.
In addition to holding several professional certifications, Heinle is a member of the National Speakers Association and World Presidents’ Organization. He also is an active community volunteer, who serves on the board of directors for Martin Memorial Library in York.
A graduate of the University of Baltimore, Heinle earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and a master’s of business administration in marketing and labor relations.
Rob Steinmetiz - click on image for high resolution download (easy login required)Steinmetz, vice president of student affairs and enrollment management, is responsible for college-wide vision, leadership and strategic direction related to the student service, retention, and learning support areas for both traditional classroom and online students. In addition, he oversees the college-wide enrollment management plan. 
Steinmetz brings to the position similar experience in student affairs and enrollment management gained in service to several community colleges. Most recently, he served as associate dean for enrollment management and college registrar at Calhoun Community College in Decatur, Ala.
In addition to a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Alabama, Steinmetz holds both a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.
