GETTYSBURG – The Gettysburg Campus of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, has announced the appointment of four new full-time faculty members for the fall semester.

The new faculty are Mary Arnold, Ed.S., Ph.D., tenure-track faculty counselor; Catherine Frost, assistant professor of mathematics; and Valerie Bugosh and Ronda Morrison, nursing clinical instructors.

Arnold, who also will oversee disability services, has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Beloit (Wash.) College, master’s and doctorate degrees in counseling from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a doctorate in counseling from Oregon State University.

Arnold has 10 years experience as an educational consultant, designing and implementing presentations for colleges and universities on leadership, diversity, student success and team building. In addition, she has clinical experience as a psychotherapist and has been a visiting professor and co-instructor in college counseling and counseling psychology courses. She has a strong interest and background in social justice topics.

Frost has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from the University of Memphis, where she also taught various levels of college math for five years and received several mathematics teaching awards. She previously taught math at Southwest Tennessee Community College and at the high school level.
She will teach developmental math and all levels of college mathematics offered at HACC-Gettysburg Campus.

Bugosh, a registered nurse (RN), will teach Fundamentals of Nursing and her clinical teaching sites will be Homewood at Plum Creek and Gettysburg Hospital. She has an associate degree in nursing from HACC and a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing education from Millersville University. She previously was a nursing lab instructor at HACC-Harrisburg Campus, and a staff nurse, case manager and preceptor with Visiting Nurse Association of Central Pennsylvania.

Her nursing experience also includes positions at Messiah Village and Pinnacle Health, Polyclinic Hospital.  Bugosh accompanied eight HACC nursing students to Africa last summer for a three-week course/clinic to provide direct care to children and families. 

Morrison, also an RN, will teach medical-surgical nursing and will supervise clinical rotations in the oncology department at York Hospital. She has a diploma degree in nursing from Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing, Danville, and is an Advanced Placement/RN-BSN Program graduate of Eastern University, St. Davids. She is a full-time student in the accelerated MSN program at Walden University.

She has been an adjunct clinical instructor in the nursing program at HACC-Harrisburg Campus and has held various nursing positions within the Pinnacle Health System and at Lewistown Hospital.

“As our campus expands and our enrollments grow, we are pleased to be able to add four new faculty to our full-time staff,” said Shannon Harvey, campus executive dean of academic affairs. “These well-qualified educators help us maintain our high academic standards and our student-centered approach to learning.”

HACC-Gettysburg Campus staff includes 23 full-time faculty members and more than 130 part-time adjunct instructors. More than 2,200 students are enrolled in credit classes for fall 2010 at the campus.
