Graduates recognized for academic, clinical achievements

LANCASTER – Graduates of HACC’s associate degree nursing program (RN) and certificate practical nursing program at the Lancaster Campus received their nursing pins in recent ceremonies.
In the RN program, 52 graduate nurses have successfully completed HACC’s two-year, clinical nursing program and are now qualified to take the state licensure exam to become registered nurses.
Several graduating RN students were recognized during the ceremony:
  • Julie Grove of Red Lion received the Terry Regitz Spirit of Nursing Award.
  • Brandi Eyster of York and Angela Rosario of Lancaster received the Good Samaritan Health System Award for Excellence in Patient Advocacy and Satisfaction.
  • Melinda Houston of Lancaster and Carmela Perez of Harrisburg received the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center Award for Compassionate Nursing Care.
  • Melynda Hoffman of Quarryville and Heather Ide of York received the Lancaster Regional Medical Center Award for Leadership.
  • Tami Groves of Hummelstown received the Nursing Faculty Award for Academic Achievement.
  • Rebecca Barshinger of Dallastown received the Nursing Faculty Award for Exemplary Nursing Practice.
  • Carol Shomper of Harrisburg and Brittany Taylor of York received the Sara J. Sigafoos Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence.

In the practical nursing program, 37 graduate nurses have successfully completed HACC’s one-year, practical nursing program and are now qualified to become licensed practical nurses.

  • Anita Plata-Zayas of New Holland received the Brethren Village Retirement Community Award for Leadership.
  • Angela Schmuck of Red Lion received the Landis Homes Retirement Community Award for Compassionate Nursing Care.
  • Edward Burns of Mountville received the Willow Valley Retirement Community Award for Excellence in Gerontological Nursing.
  • Kathy Jamison of York received the Nursing Faculty Award for Academic Achievement.
  • Tara Ray of York received the Nursing Faculty Award for Exemplary Nursing Practice.
